Who Are We?

The first French consortium dedicated to accelerating innovation in digital skin health.

The Tiers-Lieu d’Expérimentation SKIN is a digital health innovation platform driven by the CHU de Nice.
Our ambition is clear: to shorten the time between a promising idea and its real-world impact on patients and clinical practice.

To this end, we have brought together, within a single ecosystem, all the expertise required to develop digital solutions for skin health: from world-class researchers and clinicians to regulatory, financial and commercial experts. Every innovation we support is designed around patient and user needs, in direct connection with the healthcare professionals who care for them every day.

Exceptional expertise at the heart of a unique consortium

Professor Passeron — a world-class scientific reference

TLE SKIN is led by the dermatology department of the CHU de Nice, headed by Professor Thierry Passeron. A researcher of international renown, he has to date conducted more than 150 clinical studies and authored over 300 scientific publications.

This expertise is directly available for your projects: design of rigorous clinical protocols, study sponsorship, scientific co-publication, and access to hospital procurement teams. For a startup or industrial partner, access to this level of clinical partnership represents a considerable and difficult-to-replicate competitive advantage.

INRIA — a leading reference in artificial intelligence applied to healthcare

The National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology is one of the most recognised scientific institutions in the world in the fields of AI and data science. Its Sophia Antipolis branch puts its expertise at the service of the digital dermatology projects led by TLE SKIN.

In practical terms, for your projects, this means: algorithm design and validation, structuring and qualification of clinical datasets, development of robust and auditable decision-support tools.

Partnering with the Tiers-Lieu d’Expérimentation SKIN means bringing together in a single partnership clinical and technological excellence — a unique combination in the French dermatology landscape.

Patients and healthcare professionals involved in the design

TLE SKIN stands apart through the involvement of end users at every stage of development. Physicians, dermatologists, and patient associations are not simply downstream users. They are co-creators of solutions from the earliest stages of design.

This early involvement guarantees two essential things: the solutions address real clinical needs, and they are co-created by those who will use them on a daily basis.

Our ecosystem thus brings together four inseparable groups of stakeholders:

Patients and Associations

The French Skin Federation and its 26 member associations give voice to patients throughout the entire process. Patient need is not a starting hypothesis — it is a documented reality represented within the consortium itself.

Healthcare Professionals

Hospital and community dermatologists, general practitioners, and specialist nurses — through the CHU de Nice, the URPS Médecins Libéraux PACA, and the Association of Independent Dermatologists (ADL), they bring the essential clinical field expertise needed to design relevant and usable solutions.

Experts to Secure Market Access

The Eurobiomed competitiveness cluster provides critical expertise for market entry, whether to address regulatory aspects (CE marking and Medical Device certification) and intellectual property, or to help you define your targets through in-depth market studies.

RESAH, through listing in its catalogue, opens direct access to 3,000 healthcare establishments.

Our Three Structuring Missions

These missions do not only describe the current offer — they structure the long-term vision of the consortium and underpin services currently in development.

The Tiers-Lieu d’Expérimentation SKIN creates the missing link between innovators, startups, industrial partners, researchers and the healthcare system: CHU, community dermatologists, patients, and hospital procurement teams. You no longer need to search for your validation and market access partners. You find them here, committed to a shared mission.

Impacts:

  • Number of patients tested, number of pathologies detected,
  • Number of new solutions evaluated and tested,
  • Number of innovative projects launched,

Design and test new solutions in real-world conditions, at the intersection of clinical expertise and digital capabilities. Your innovation is rigorously tested, with the right partners, validated by recognised dermatologists and published in leading journals, rapidly building its scientific credibility.

Impacts:

  • Number of clinical studies conducted per year
  • Number of patients enrolled
  • Number of validated algorithms
  • Number of publications generated
  • Average study timeline
  • Average impact factor of publications

Supporting validated solutions all the way to market by removing regulatory barriers, structuring financing, and activating commercial channels. Solutions supported by the Tiers-Lieu d’Expérimentation SKIN can be integrated into the RESAH catalogue, giving direct access to 3,000 public and private establishments.

How We Work

The Tiers-Lieu d’Expérimentation SKIN relies on a dedicated coordination team that manages the entire consortium. Depending on the maturity of your project and your needs, we mobilise the right experts at the right time, either through a complete programme or through modular interventions.

Our support can take two complementary forms, detailed in our service offering:

  • A collaboration in the form of direct service provision, in response to a specific need for which TLE SKIN can mobilise its expertise and partner network.
  • A co-constructed partnership project, within the framework of a specific public call for projects for Experimentation Hubs or others (ANR, BPI, Europe…). TLE SKIN acts as a consortium partner, bringing clinical, technological and field access expertise.

You focus on product innovation.

We secure the rest.
