Artificial intelligence in the service of dermatology

Harnessing the power of artificial intelligence in the service of excellence in dermatology and cosmetics.

The ability of artificial intelligence to leverage large datasets (imaging, biological data, transcriptomics…) opens up promising prospects for skin physiology: more precise and early diagnosis, personalized care, adaptation of treatments and broadened access to care.

The Tiers-Lieu d’Expérimentation SKIN is the catalyst for this synergy. By bringing together world-class clinical expertise and cutting-edge technological capabilities, we turn these promises into concrete, validated, and market-ready solutions.

Key areas of expertise

We bring together cutting-edge expertise across three complementary fields of application.

Medical and clinical dermatology

  • General dermatology and chronic inflammatory conditions: psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acne,
  • Cutaneous oncology: melanomas and non-melanoma skin cancers,
  • Chronic wounds
  • Pigmentation disorders: vitiligo, melasma,

Cosmetics and skin care

  • Anti-aging: objective evaluation of effects on the skin
  • Skin hydration and barrier: measurement and modeling of physiological mechanisms
  • Photoprotection

Technological skills and data

  • Medical and biological imaging: acquisition, standardization and processing of dermatological visual data
  • Machine learning and statistics: design and validation of predictive models adapted to health data
  • Image processing and analysis: segmentation, objective measurement and automated analysis of skin lesions
  • Mathematical methods and modeling: modeling of skin physiology and therapeutic responses
  • Real-world patient data: integration of reported experiences and observed outcomes in real-life conditions

Case study: Vitil-IA® by Newtone

Vitiligo affects 1 to 2% of the global population and profoundly impacts quality of life. Until recently, its assessment relied on subjective clinical scores, limiting the reliability of studies and slowing access to treatments.

With TLE SKIN’s support, Newtone developed Vitil-IA®: a tool combining high-resolution imaging and algorithmic analysis to objectively measure depigmented areas.
Result: a reliable, reproducible and recognized measurement, published in the British Journal of Dermatology (2023) which immediately raised the standard of evaluation in clinical research.
